This One Life

April 12th, 2008

Since Albert Einstein proved that energy cannot be created nor destroyed, this would suggest that the human consciousness would continue to exist in some way, some where within the universe after the physical body dies in this life. I believe this to be true as do many others. However, whether you believe this or not, it stands to reason that we should make the most of this one life we are living at the moment. I mean, nobody knows what is around the corner or how much time we have left in this life.

For me it is comforting to believe that there will be some type of existence beyond this life. Maybe I will come back into human form on earth after I die in this life or maybe my consciousness will exist in some other way within the universe. The simple truth is I do not know. The one thing I do know is that I will never live this life I am living at the moment once I am dead. So what am I getting at?

Imagine you found out that you were going to die very soon. Even for someone like me who believes in some form of existence after death in this life, I would still be quite concerned about my imminent death to say the least. Of course I know I will die one day but I am in no hurry for that day to arrive. I guess it is only a normal human reaction to be scared if you found out you did not have long to live.

I do not believe that thinking about death is the most constructive way to spend your time but by giving it some thought might release a few new or original ideas about making the most of your time while you are still breathing in this one life.

So many people throughout the world feel trapped by the circumstances of their life but do nothing in regards to changing the life path they are on. This is what I am talking about. Having the courage to make a change in your life that might result in the wisest move you ever made in this life. I have written extensively about how I have made changes in my life in numerous articles on this website, you can find them within the archives of the site.

Making a change, particularly a dramatic change, in your life usually first starts with a feeling of fear and in trepidation. This is completely normal and to be expected. At this point you become aware that you are the master of your own destiny as you ponder all the potential outcomes of this impending change. My suggestion is if it feels right, no matter how scary it may feel at first, is to go for it. Stepping into the unknown and heading towards your dreams is one of the most daunting things you will ever do but perhaps the most empowering position you will ever find yourself in during this one life.

Once you have taken the first step by following your intuition towards that more fulfilling life you are looking for, the rest will just happen and it will be part of the great journey that is your life. You will never be able to go back no matter what happens and you will be forced into making new decisions that you never would have had to face if you stayed put in your current, less than ideal life position.

Will it work out for the best in the long run? Yes it will.

Will you encounter problems or difficult circumstances along the way? You most certainly will.

Will it be worth it?

Only you can answer that question.
