The Power of Free Will

August 22nd, 2007

There is almost no greater power available to us than the power of free will. It is our free will that allows us to choose the direction of our lives and it is an equally powerful tool to get what we want from life. The power of free will always gives us the choice to decide, maybe you could almost say that we have the power to decide our own fate. Of course it might be sometimes difficult to avoid accidents that occasionally happen in life but in general terms our free will allows us to create opportunities for ourselves and then capitalize on them when they arrive in our lives.

I executed the power of free will when I chose to sit down and write this article although I could have gone for a swim, cooked something to eat, done the laundry (well maybe not) or made the decision to do just about anything with this particular block of time I am now using to write the article. What I am getting at is you always have the choice to implement the power of free will as you see fit, unless of course you are in jail or in hospital then your choices are limited but you still have a measure of control over how you use your free will in your free time.

Successful people know how to use the power of free will to achieve their goals in life and acquire what they need or want to make them happy. Lazy people may decide to use that same power of free will to watch TV or waste their valuable time following meaningless pursuits that usually have them running around in circles without moving forward with their lives. Some individuals apply the power of free will to use drugs and alcohol but just as they used their free will to start using they can turn things around with that exact same power of free will whenever they choose. Pessimistic or angry people use free will to complain that life is not fair and end up spending their valuable time feeling sorry for themselves. However, free will is like magic and you can choose to wave your magic wand of free will in the twinkling of an eye, make different choices and move towards what you want and away from what you do not want.

I have had some ups and downs in my life, I guess like most people, and it was because of the downs I experienced during life that I decided I needed to make some changes and became interested in personal development. I think if everything was always ok and I never made any mistakes or stupid choices, I would never have had any reason to get involved with personal development. However, I am glad I did experience the downers since they forced me to use the power of free will to move in a new direction. Since I started reading books on the power of the mind especially, my life has become so much happier than I could ever have wished for. Although I could be back where I was years ago if I had not decided to use the power of free will constructively.

You can implement the power of free will at any moment and move in the direction of your dreams and away from fear and pain but no one can make that decision but you and you alone. You can get to the top of the world, literally, if you choose to. I recently read that a blind person climbed to the top of Mount Everest and returned to tell the story, this is about as good of an advertisement for the vast power of free will as you will ever get. That person could have easily chose to sit back and do nothing but feel sorry for themselves and I doubt any one would blame them but instead they made the decision to undertake one of the most dangerous quests anyone could ever choose to do, even with sight, and conquer that mighty mountain.

So next time you decide to sit down in front of the TV and wish you had the resources to go traveling, buy a new car or eat at a restaurant that does not have a drive thru, remember you can have any of these things and much more through the same power of free will we all have the ability to use as we please. It’s always your choice.
