Plan for Success
August 25th, 2009No matter where in the world you are from or what you like to do with your time, most people want to be successful on some level. Although some aspire to greatness, others may simply want to enjoy success in the form of good health, happy relationships and an adequate supply of money. It really does not matter what form success takes for others, what does matter however, is that you feel successful within. The only way to become successful is to make a plan for success.
Planning for success need not be a chore, in fact it should be something that you not only should do but really want to do. Your plan for success is the first step in achieving success in any and all areas of your life. In whatever area you plan to be successful it is imperative you make a step by step plan in order to realize your dreams.
So many people I have met over the years as well as many people I know personally love to talk about what they would like to achieve in their lives but so very few seem to be making forward progress towards these goals. When I hear friends talking about their grand plans for the future I can see a spark in their eyes as they deliver their plans verbally but sadly these ideas that are so easy to express in words often never amount to anything. However, all the successful people I know have one thing in common, that is they follow up on their words by making a concrete plan to achieve their goals. It is not rocket science, it is simply about taking action. Step by simple step on a day by day basis.
Most people I know want to own their own home, some have achieved this in just a few short years and then have quickly gone on to buy more properties for investment purposes. Why then do others get into their forties and fifties and still continue to live in a never ending cycle of rent. Renting as we all know is paying off someone elses property instead of paying off your own. It all comes down to making a plan to save money for a deposit on a home and sticking to that plan with every new pay check.
Planning does take discipline and with discipline comes some type of sacrifice. It may mean sacrificing some of your time to exercise if your plan is to get in better shape. Perhaps your plan is to start up a business, and then your plan would involve spending time educating yourself in regards to starting and running the type of business you are interested in. Sacrifice at first may seem like hard work but it is a necessary ingredient for prolonged success.
The easiest way I know to begin a new cycle for the successful completion of any goal is to make a list on paper or type up a list on your computer of all the steps you need to take to achieve success. Refer to this list often and cross off each step as you complete it, add new steps to reach your goals as they come to you.
Achieving success has nothing to do with your level of intelligence or whether you come from a life of privilege, it has everything to do with your ability to plan the steps necessary to realize your goals and most importantly to follow through by taking the appropriate action. It is a simple formula, plan for success, take action and watch your dreams materialize.
