Is International Travel Safe

If you have been pondering the idea of traveling abroad but have been concerned with recent world activities, you may have been asking this question. Is international travel safe these days? Well of course what I write here is only my opinion but yes, international travel is not only safe, I would add that international travel in general is very safe indeed.

Is international travel safe in comparison to driving or riding in a car? The short answer is yes, you would be far more likely to be injured or killed in a car than you ever would traveling in a foreign country. Even the flight to and from the overseas country is so safe it simply is just not worth worrying about. Modern aircraft are without doubt the safest form of travel on the planet. Instead of worrying about the plane falling out of the sky, sit back and relax and enjoy the ride. Even if you were flying 24 hours per day, every day for your entire life, the chances of the aircraft crashing would be remote to say the least.

What about all this terrorism we hear about, is international travel safe in regards to global terrorism in current times. Once again, this is only my opinion but I think you would have about as much chance of being caught in an act of terrorism as you would be of being in an aircraft crash.

Yes planes do crash and yes there is terrorist activity in our world, but is it cause for concern as an international traveler? I personally have never given it a moments thought. Why worry about such events happening? It is simply unlikely you would be ever involved in either of these events.

Of course some countries and certain areas in certain countries are more dangerous than others. I would not expect holidaying in Iraq right now or trekking through the jungle in Columbia would be without its fair share of potential threats. However, for the everyday traveler following the common tourist trail or in most cases, off the beaten trail for that matter, international travel is about as safe as anything else in life you would do on a regular basis.

Are you scared to clean your teeth for fear of choking on your toothbrush? I doubt it! So do not be afraid to travel abroad, it is just about the most exciting thing you will ever do. Life is the journey, not the destination.
