Iceland Volcano a Sign of Things to Come

Lately, well actually for quite some time now, I have been wondering about all these natural disasters happening in all corners of our amazing planet and considering if these large scale events are in fact part of a protracted lead up to the end of the long count cycle of the Mayan calendar in December 2012.
Earthquakes in Northern and Southern America, tsunamis in South East Asia, floods and droughts happening at the same time within Australia and numerous volcanos from all over the planet spewing ultra fine, super damaging particles of ash into the atmosphere seem to be common place events in our world these days. Did you know that volcanic ash particles can be so fine and light they can sit so high in the atmosphere, around 6-11 kilometers up in the air, and stay there for 2-3 years? This is the height at which jumbo jet airliners fly in the jet stream. These tiny volcanic ash particles are so dangerous they can permanently destroy a jet engine and bring down an aircraft. Having said that, air travel is still the safest means of transport, I think!
I do not want to be an alarmist or a fear monger, in truth I believe these are amazing and wonderful times to be alive on this extraordinary planet. These epic natural events that seem to be occurring more and more often are a part of our world and a factor of life we have to contend with. I do not know if any of this has anything to do with the end of the Mayan calendar in 2012 or not, I suppose we will just have to wait and see. Although what I do know is when Mother Nature talks we all have no choice but to listen.
