How to Keep Your Body Regular

It is important to know how to keep your body regular for a number of reasons. To keep your body regular means feeding your body the essential foods that will aid in the digestion and elimination process. It also means moving your body by exercising or at least walking everyday or every other day. Having a regular bowel movement each morning may not be a great conversation topic but it is extremely important that you are aware of the possible health problems that may arise if your body is not regular.

The best way to keep your body regular is to eat a sufficient amount of both insoluble fiber and soluble fiber each day. The two types of fiber perform different functions that are essential to aid in the digestion of food and assist in the elimination process.

Insoluble fiber works by speeding up the movement of food through the stomach and then through the intestines. Insoluble fiber also works like a drain cleaner in a healthy way by keeping the digestive track of the body clean and clear allowing for easy elimination of body waste.

Soluble fiber will keep your body regular by attracting water which helps by slowing down the digestion of food. Your body needs soluble fiber to slow the digestion process and allow the stomach and intestines to adequately absorb the essential nutrients from the food you eat. Both types of fiber are of equal importance and work together to keep your body regular. Therefore it is vital that your daily diet includes both insoluble and soluble fiber.

Eating sufficient fiber is the ideal way to keep your body regular and by doing so you reduce the risks of digestive track diseases and help to avoid constipation. People who are regularly constipated are at a higher risk of developing digestive diseases or colon cancer and need to be aware of the importance of fiber in their diet. With an adequate intake of essential fiber you will also minimize the risk of heart disease and diabetes. The reason for this is, by taking enough fiber you are able to manage your bodyweight easier since the soluble fiber gives you that full feeling after eating and you will therefore be less likely to want to eat any excess food which will only cause you to get fat. No matter which way you look at it, eating sufficient fiber is a smart move all round.

Some good sources of insoluble fiber that will help to keep your body regular are products made from whole wheat, bran and vegetables. It is the roughage and texture of these foods which help keep the digestive track clean and clear and allow for the easy passage of food to be eliminated through the bowel.

Quality sources of soluble fiber include nuts, peas, beans, assorted vegetables and fruit like pears and apples. Oatmeal is also an excellent source of soluble fiber and one food that I eat every single day without fail and is one of the main reasons why I believe I have always been able to keep my body regular.

The importance of fiber cannot be overstated. It is the best way to keep your body regular and avoid potential life threatening health problems. One way that you can increase you fiber intake by eating the foods I have mentioned is to avoid peeling your vegetables and fruit. The skin on fruits and vegetables is full or essential fiber and adds to your total fiber intake. Eating enough fiber daily is easy to do if you get into the habit of buying those foods regularly and will allow you to live a long healthy life.
