How to Beat Karma

April 18th, 2008

The title to this article how to beat karma is perhaps a little bit misleading since there is no way to beat the law of karma. What I am referring to is really how to enjoy good karma most of the time. Karma is karma and you will always reap what you sow. Every action you take in life represents the cause and the result of each and every one of your actions is the effect. We live in a universe governed entirely by the law of cause and effect. What this means in a nutshell is we are responsible for everything that happens to us. So how to we enjoy good karma most of the time?

The reason I say most of the time and not all of the time is because sometimes things happen to us that we consider undesirable at first but later on we realize some of those nasty circumstances we had to face turned out to be blessings in disguise.

If you have ever taken drugs or alcohol before you will know the enhanced feelings you initially experience after their ingestion. However, what goes up must come down and eventually you will experience a depressed feeling once the effects of the drugs or alcohol have abated. You cannot escape the ups and downs when you use drugs or alcohol. The law of karma works in a very similar fashion.

When you take positive action such as eating healthy, exercising, helping others, helping yourself, learning new things, getting enough sleep, taking risks to improve the quality of your life, thinking positive thoughts or perhaps even donating your time or money to a cause you believe in, you will reap good karma. This good karma is a definite reward you will receive as a result of taking positive action.

At times when you act in a negative fashion like eating unhealthy food, not exercising consistently, failing to help yourself due to laziness, using drugs or alcohol to excess, stealing from others, deliberately hurting others or yourself or thinking negative thoughts, you are effectively inviting bad karma in the front door of your life.

If you do not believe in karma then this article is simply not for you. If you believe in karma then you will realize your actions are responsible for all situations and events in your life. Your actions or lack of action determines your fortune or misfortune. We cannot control what form our karma will take but we can initiate a flow of good karma in the form of uplifting and satisfying people and events flooding into our lives. The same thing is certain for bad karma if our thoughts and actions are shrouded in darkness.

The use of karma to control the highs and lows of our very existence through life all comes down to our personal choices. We always have a choice and that choice, however difficult it may seem at the time, will determine the level of success and happiness we enjoy on our journey through life.
