Follow the Path of Least Resistance

April 4th, 2007

I had heard the term follow the path of least resistance many times before in my life and although it sounded kind of cool and seemed like it made sense I really did not know how to incorporate this concept effectively into my daily life. As I have become more interested inpersonal development I now understand what it means to follow the path of least resistance. It simply means to let go and trust and when you do this, life, the universe, God or whatever you want to call it will not let you down. By holding on too tight to life all you do is invoke fear and it is fear that pushes all the good things away.

Bruce Lee often told his students to be like water. So what on earth does that mean? It means to follow the path of least resistance. If you pour a cup of water on top of any surface or structure that water will find its way to the lowest points of that surface without any effort at all. The effect of gravity causes the water to follow the path of least resistance and it does so 100% of the time, nothing ever stands in it way. So whatBruce Lee meant when he said be like water was let yourself flow naturally whether you are fighting an opponent or living your life.

It is only your fear, which is only a thought in your mind that stops you from flowing naturally and allowing yourself to follow the path of least resistance. We all face fears in life but how we deal with fear is a determining factor in our quality of life. I have read a number of authorized and unauthorized books on Arnold Schwarzenegger and they all say the same thing about him and that is he never let fear stand in his way and it seems throughout his entire life, everything he touches turns to gold. No matter whether you are a fan of him or not, he is a remarkable individual. I remember reading an interview with him a while back and he said you can only ever keep one thought in your conscious mind at any given moment so make sure you make it a positive one. He went on to say he does not think too much about things when he has to make a decision as when you think too much you end up thinking negatively about the idea and eventually your fears will literally talk you out of doing something you probably could have achieved. Sometimes it is important to understand how to stop thinking. Some people may dismiss Arnold as a stupid muscle head but this could not be further from the truth. You do not reach the heights of success Arnold has without intelligence, will power and a keen sense of awareness.

I do not normally like to use celebrities to prove a point but Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Lee are two people I very much admire for their forward thinking, basic approach, yet fearless attitude towards life. Both of these men were also advocates of visualization techniques to achieve their goals. I have had great success myself using visualization when setting intentions and goals. If you can see it in your mind, you can manifest it in your reality. Your mind is the canvas of your reality and when youfollow the path of least resistance and can focus on an idea regularly and habitually and visualize the outcome it is only a matter of time till that mental canvas becomes the 3 dimensional reality you live in. Belief in a certain outcome brings it to you every time, fear pushes it away.
